Start your day with a breathtaking Himalayan sunrise from Sarangkot, then spend the afternoon on a Tibetan Cultural Tour led by a passionate and knowledgeable local guide. Visit a Tibetan refugee settlement near Pokhara, speak with the monks, and learn about the history, culture, and Buddhist traditions of the Tibetan community in Nepal.
Morning Session:
We pick you up from your hotel at 4:30 AM and drive about 30 minutes to Sarangkot.
From the drop-off point, take a short 10-minute hike to the top of the viewpoint.
Watch the first light of the day touch the snow-capped Himalayas, with Pokhara Valley and Phewa Lake below. On a clear morning, you can see Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna II, III and IV, Lamjung Himal, and Manaslu.
After sunrise, return to your hotel for breakfast and a relaxed morning at your own pace.
Afternoon Session:
This half-day tour offers a deeper understanding of Tibetan culture, religion, and the lives of Tibetan refugees in Nepal. It goes beyond ordinary sightseeing and is ideal for anyone interested in Tibet, its people, and its rich Buddhist traditions.
Explore a Tibetan refugee settlement near Pokhara and learn how the Tibetan community has preserved its language, identity, and Buddhist traditions in Nepal.
Meet a young Buddhist monk and learn about monastic life, their studies, and daily activities in the monastery.
Visit another monastery, where you can join the monks’ afternoon prayers (optional), hear traditional instruments, and feel the vibration of the chanting.
Learn the meanings of Buddhist signs and symbols that play an important role in daily life, such as prayer wheels, prayer flags, and stupas.
End the day with traditional tea in a local Tibetan family home. Taste salted butter tea, tsampa (roasted barley flour), and homemade Tibetan bread with honey, butter, and peanut butter, while your local guide introduces you to Tibetan cuisine and life in the settlement. After the tour we will drop you back to your Hotel in Lakeside.
