Welcome to the Kingdom of the Crystal Giants. Opened to the public for the first time in 2013, the Grotte de la Salamandre (Salamander Cave) is designed for both casual sightseers and those seeking a variety of experiences or a unique adventure.
Share your emotions through the six tour options:
- The Belvedere, with its incredible panoramic view, is wheelchair accessible (unique in Europe);
- The Guided Tour, a captivating journey lasting approximately one hour through the heart of a vast space adorned with magnificent, colossal concretions, culminating in a dazzling sound and light show;
- For adrenaline junkies, the Grand Rappel: a 50-meter (164-foot) descent to discover the immense chamber from its ceiling, with friends or family. Thrills guaranteed and… shared!
- Behind the Scenes at the Salamander: 2.5 hours of caving in the Cave's hidden chambers, a captivating journey that is fun, visually stunning, and even a bit athletic.
- The Aéroplume Flight: a unique experience not available anywhere else
- The “Immersion” show: A unique sensory journey to the rhythm of film music by renowned composers such as John Williams, Ennio Morricone, Hans Zimmer, and Vangelis, enhancing the Grotte's monumental concretions.
Events are held at the site on an ongoing basis, including the Trail des Avens, unique tours, and numerous concerts during the high season.
Outside, you will find a stunningly beautiful and eco-friendly site: the reception structure, built from local wood and nestled on the cliffside, houses a charming shop selling unique items, as well as a refreshment stand offering delicious products to enjoy on the magnificent terrace overlooking the wild and unspoiled garrigue.
In the immediate vicinity, the Accro-Bambino course will allow little ones to experience their own adventure on a suspended route surrounded by safety nets.
Finally, the Rivière au Pépites (Nugget River) offers a fun gold-panning experience that will delight young and old alike.
