During your rock climbing or bouldering experience in Arcos de Valdevez, you'll begin by meeting your certified guide at our central meeting point. After a brief safety briefing and equipment check—where you'll don your climbing shoes, apply chalk, and learn basic knot-tying techniques—you'll proceed to the first set of granite rocks. There, your instructor will demonstrate basic hand and footwork, body positioning, and how to read the rock to find holds.
Next, you’ll practice your newly acquired moves on progressively challenging boulders. As you climb, you’ll feel the solid, coarse texture of the ancient granite beneath your fingertips, and enjoy sweeping views of lush valleys and terraced hillsides. Between climbs, take a moment to soak in the tranquil river sounds and sip water while your guide shares local legends about the region’s geology and history.

Midway through the session, you’ll tackle more complex problems—short, dynamic moves that build strength and confidence. Your guide will offer personalised tips, adjusting holds and body position for maximum efficiency. You’ll also learn proper falling technique on crash pads, ensuring safety and helping you overcome any fear of heights.

Finally, as the sun dips towards the western slopes, you’ll cool down with a gentle walk back to base camp, stretching out tight muscles and reflecting on your achievements.
