What you can expect

  • We will meet the participants at the admission of the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria (MArRC), where we will begin a guided visit of the museum's collections. We will start from the floor dedicated to prehistory, to discover the value of burials in telling the storey of past civilisations. We will then delve into the Greek colonisation and the history of Magna Graecia, with a particular focus on the treasures of Locri. Next, we will enter Roman Reggio and approach the most eagerly awaited encounter: a visit to the famous Riace Bronzes, retracing the exciting stages of their discovery and admiring their extraordinary beauty up close.
The tour will then continue along the Falcomatà waterfront, known as the “most beautiful kilometre in Italy,” a true open-air museum. During the walk, we will admire historic buildings such as Villa Genoese Zerbi, and modern and contemporary artworks, including the evocative sculptures of Rabarama.
We will continue our journey on foot to Piazza Duomo, to discover the connection between Reggio and São Paulo, and the works housed in the Cathedral. An itinerary full of emotions, ancient and recent stories. N.B. For morning tours, the order of the stops is reversed, starting from the Cathedral.
