We will pick you up from your accommodation in Punta Arenas starting at 8:00 am. On our way north, we will cross the Patagonian Steppe, an endless landscape inhabited by guanacos, foxes, and rheas. Our first stop will be at the historic Estancia San Gregorio, where you will see the remains of the steamboats Amadeo and Ambassador, which bear witness to the region's pioneering past.
We will then continue on to Pali Aike National Park, known as “The Other Patagonia.” There, you will hike through landscapes that seem to belong to another planet: basaltic lava fields, extinct volcanic cones, and unique semi-desert vegetation. We will visit the Pali Aike Cave, an archaeological site containing human remains dating back more than 10,000 years, and we will follow trails that will lead us to mythical places such as the Devil's Wells, the Devil's Abode, the Ana Lagoon, and the crater of the extinct volcano.
During the hike (approximately 8 km / 5 miles, low-to-medium difficulty), you will have the opportunity to observe wildlife up close in their natural habitat, while enjoying unparalleled panoramic views of this little-explored park.
At the end of the day, we will return to Punta Arenas, arriving at approximately 7:00 p.m., with the memory of having discovered one of the hidden gems of Chilean Patagonia.
