What you can expect

Visit an indigenous town just outside of La Antigua, where the majority of residents are Cakchiquel natives, famous for their friendly nature and easy smiles. On a clear day, admire the splendid Volcán de Agua, rising from the earth with a mosaic of crops on its slopes.

Discover a small community dedicated to agriculture and weaving, harvesting beans, corn, and coffee. Learn about the weaving style and techniques that make the town so popular. See Mayan dresses and textiles, and watch Mayan weavers demonstrate the backstrap loom technique.

At lunchtime, see the ingredients used to cook the typical dish of the area, called Pepián, and perhaps help assemble it. While you have lunch, consult the spiritual Mayan Guide (AJ KIK) about your NAHUAL, your protective spirit, represented in an animal according to your date of birth.
