What you can expect
Sintra, the mountain of the moon, is one of those places full of magic and mystery where nature and man combine in such a perfect symbiosis that UNESCO has classified it as a World Heritage Site.
This tour consists of a Tuk Tuk trip through the mountain with stops at the best viewpoints and this way you will have the opportunity to contemplate the most enigmatic palaces and castles of Portugal.
From meeting point, we go to the mountain, where we will stop to see a view of the “National Palace” of Sintra, also known as the Royal Palace of Sintra, it is one of the most important and well-preserved medieval palaces in Portugal.
Afterwards we will stop at “Quinta da Regaleira”, one of the most mysterious and fascinating places in 19th century Sintra. As we approach, the scenery changes with dense vegetation and winding paths leading us to this true fairy tale.
Afterwards we will stop at the “Biester Palace”, built in the 19th century, the palace has a unique beauty, surrounded by beautiful gardens and an atmosphere of mystery and charm. The building is famous for its connection with the world of cinema, having been one of the locations for the film The Ninth Gate (1999) with Johnny Depp.
Afterwards we will stop at the viewpoint of the “Castelo dos Mouros”. Isolated high up, on one of the peaks of the Sintra mountain range, the Castle is a fortification from the 8th century, the time of the Muslim occupation of the Iberian Peninsula. We will talk about the history of the monument, and take advantage of these panoramic views for some fantastic photographs.
Afterwards we will stop at a viewpoint with a view of the “Pena Palace”, a sacred jewel that crowns the Serra de Sintra. The colourful tones of the palace, the ultimate exponent of Romanticism in Portugal and the eternal work of D. Fernando II, King-Artist, open doors to the imagination of all who arrive there. There we will talk about the history of the monument.
Arriving at the westernmost point of Europe “Cabo da Roca” presents us with a wonderful and dramatic road, where we can see the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. At this location we will make a longer stop so that you can enjoy and explore the views. NOTE: In case of less favourable weather conditions, we always have the chance to visit the charming Azenhas do Mar, a small holiday village built on a cliff.
At the end of the tour we can end in a palace of your choice” with also recommendations, what to do in Sintra during your stay, including restaurants and places to relax and breathe Sintra.
Tickets from monuments are not included.
