Activity itinerary

Borgarnes

  • 20m
Nestled on a scenic peninsula surrounded by mountains and ocean, Borgarnes is often considered the gateway to West Iceland. This charming town holds a special place in Icelandic history, closely linked to the legendary sagas. Travellers can enjoy breathtaking coastal views, peaceful walking paths, and learn about the early settlers of Iceland. With its calm atmosphere and stunning natural backdrop, Borgarnes is the perfect introduction to the magical Saga Valley.

Deildartunguhver Thermal Spring

  • 20m
Welcome to Europe’s most powerful hot spring, where boiling water bursts from the earth at an astonishing rate of 180 litres per second. The vibrant red rocks and dense geothermal steam create an almost otherworldly atmosphere. This natural wonder supplies hot water to nearby towns and is a striking example of Iceland’s raw geothermal energy. The unique smell, colours, and intensity of the spring make this stop unforgettable.

Reykholtskirkja

  • 20m
Reykholt is a place where history and legend meet. Once home to the famous medieval writer, chieftain, and scholar Snorri Sturluson, this village is one of Iceland’s most important cultural sites. Visitors can explore ancient geothermal pools, learn about Viking heritage, and follow in the footsteps of one of Iceland’s greatest saga authors. The atmosphere here is peaceful, intellectual, and deeply connected to Iceland’s storytelling tradition.

Hraunfossar

  • 1h 30m
These two neighbouring waterfalls offer a magical contrast of beauty and legend. Hraunfossar, the “Lava Falls,” consists of countless crystal-clear streams flowing gently from beneath a lava field into a bright turquoise river. Just a short walk away lies Barnafoss, with its rushing waters and dramatic rock formations. Local folklore tells a tragic storey connected to this waterfall, adding mystery and emotion to the experience. Together, they create one of the most enchanting viewpoints in West Iceland.

Krauma

Krauma Spa (Optional Add-On) For guests seeking a moment of relaxation, Krauma offers a luxurious geothermal spa experience. Fed directly by Deildartunguhver — Europe’s most powerful hot spring — the water is naturally heated and blended with cool glacier spring water for the perfect balance. Guests can enjoy a selection of elegant hot pools, a cold plunge, saunas, and a relaxation room with panoramic views. Whether you wish to unwind in silence or soak in the scenery, Krauma provides the perfect premium upgrade to your day.
