Narusawa Ice Cave is a cavity that was created after lava flowed out during the eruption of Mount Nagao, a lateral volcano of Mount Fuji, in 864. The temperature inside the cave averages just 3°C, and it is covered in ice all year round. The highlight is the icicles that form when water droplets seep from the ceiling freeze. The ground is also slippery and slippery, so please hold on to the slope and proceed carefully.

It is about 20 metres high and over 150 metres wide, with countless thin streams cascading down the cliff like hanging white threads. The greatest attraction of the waterfall is that the meltwater and rainwater from Mount Fuji travels underground and gushes out all at once from gaps in the lava layers.

As the head shrine of approximately 1,300 Asama shrines across Japan, Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine venerates the sacred spirit of Mount Fuji and other volcanoes. Its profound cultural and spiritual significance was acknowledged in 2013 when it was inscribed as a key component of the Mount Fuji UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.
