Borobudur is the largest Buddhist temple in the world, a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist temple in Central Java, Indonesia, stands out for several reasons. Constructed from grey andesite-like stone, it features nine stacked platforms six square, and three circulars crowned by a central dome. The temple is adorned with an astonishing 2,672 relief panels and originally housed 504 Buddha statues.
