Your day begins with a convenient 08:30 morning pick-up from your ship in the harbour. We depart and make our way along Port Elizabeth's beachfront, passing Humewood Beach, Shark Rock Pier, and Hobie Beach en route to Cape Recife.
At SANCCOB, the marine bird rehabilitation centre, we enjoy a guided tour of the facility, where you’ll have the chance to see many African penguins currently in care alongside other coastal bird species.
After the tour, we continue to the Cape Recife Lighthouse car park. Here we stop and disembark for a short walk along the tarmac road to the lighthouse, where a suitable spot will be chosen for an orientation to both the Cape Recife Lighthouse and lighthouses in general.
Leaving the lighthouse, we board the tour vehicle again and continue east along the Wild Side until we reach our next destination: a historic cannon once part of the cargo of the Santissimo Sacramento, a Portuguese Man O’ War that sank in Cannon Bay in 1647 with many crew and passengers on board. We take in the views and the cannon during a short break before heading inland, away from the coast.
We then stop for a light lunch at a local restaurant before making our way back to the shoreline, stopping at a viewpoint overlooking an expansive beach and towering sand dunes.
Our journey continues inland through picturesque countryside as we return to Port Elizabeth's harbour, with drop-off close to your ship around 15:30.
