What you can expect
Imagine stepping through a portal in time. The present remains behind you, and before you opens a city frozen in the exact moment of an eruption that took place two thousand years ago. This is how Pompeii welcomes you: silent, intact, ready to tell you its storey.
Our journey begins when our guide – an expert and passionate storyteller of the past – leads you to the Theatres area. Here, among stone steps and imaginary backdrops, you can almost hear the buzz of the Roman audience getting ready for the show. Immediately afterwards, we move on to the Gladiators' Barracks, a place of training, toil, and glory: it still seems as if we can see the shadows of the fighters as they perfect their movements, unaware of the fate that awaits them.
Leaving the entertainment area, you take the high street of the city. The shops follow one after the other: bakeries, stores, small taverns. Here, your guide tells you about the charred products that were found, the street food, and the scents and flavours that filled the air in the days of ancient Pompeii. Every step is a return to Roman everyday life: simple, lively, surprisingly modern.
Then you enter an aristocratic domus, a house where frescoes with still-vivid colours decorate the walls. It is the heart of family life, the retreat of the wealthy Pompeians. Your guide takes you to the most important room: the triclinium, the place where dinner was served. Amid stories of dishes, habits, and rituals, discover how sacred the act of eating together was for the Romans. From a viewing platform, you will visit the area of the new excavations, an excavation still in progress where archaeologists are bringing a new Roman house to light. From here, you will access a very special and unique place: from a viewing terrace, comfortably seated, you will taste local delicacies with an all-Made in Italy aperitif. After this break, our route resumes. And like any good citizen of the time, at least once a day you go to the Baths. Not just baths, but places for meeting, discussion and relaxation. Here you can relive the different stages of the swimming ritual: from the calidarium to the frigidarium, among imagined vapors and stones smoothed by time.
The next stop is the most unique and surprising district of the city: the area where prostitution, then legal and regulated, was a real economy. Among engravings and tiny rooms, discover a human and often unspoken side of everyday Roman life.
Finally, you arrive at the Forum, the beating heart of the city: political, religious, and commercial. It is here that the destiny of Pompeii was decided; it is here that, among columns and statues, you most strongly perceive the grandeur of the Roman civilisation.
