What you can expect

  • Discover the Vjosa River from a different perspective on an unforgettable inflatable kayaking adventure in Albania.

    Paddle through the spectacular landscapes of Vjosa Wild River National Park, within the UNESCO-designated Vjosa Valley Biosphere Reserve, and experience one of Europe's last wild rivers.

    Your adventure begins at the purpose-built riverside centre of Rafting Vjosa Albania in Përmet, where our local team has been introducing visitors to the Vjosa since 2012.

    After checking in, you will receive your kayaking equipment, including a helmet, life jacket and paddle, followed by a safety briefing before travelling upstream with our rafting group to the starting point.

    Take control of your own inflatable kayak and enjoy approximately 9 km of river adventure, surrounded by beautiful mountains, rocky riverbanks and the changing colours of the Vjosa.

    You will follow the same route as our scheduled rafting trip, paddling independently while an RVA rafting guide operates nearby and can assist when necessary.

    This is a self-paddled kayaking experience rather than a guided kayaking lesson. There is no dedicated safety raft for kayakers.

    Depending on river conditions, enjoy swimming opportunities and photo stops along the way. Free digital photos are included in your experience.

    After the descent, return to our riverside centre, where you can enjoy changing rooms, showers and beautiful views of the Vjosa River and surrounding mountains.

    Previous paddling experience is required. Basic experience is suitable for calmer summer conditions, while previous moving-water kayaking experience is required during spring or stronger river conditions.

    The experience is suitable for participants aged 14 and above, subject to river conditions and equipment fit.

    Single or double inflatable kayaks are allocated according to availability.

    Choose between meeting directly at our riverside centre or arranging hotel pickup within Përmet.

    Experience the Vjosa with the original local rafting company, sharing and protecting our home river since 2012.
