What you can expect

  • Pedra do Sal is one of the nicest spots in the area known as Little Africa. This cradle of Carioca samba has become a paradise for those who like to mix history with beer, youth, samba, and nightlife.

    All of this takes place in front of a large rock with a carved staircase, Pedra do Sal, a heritage listed in 1984. The staircase gives access to Morro da Conceição. This area of Porto Maravilha is called Little Africa because it was a point of sale and exchange for slaves and shelter for quilombos. There, the salt from the ships that docked in the port was unloaded, the origin of the meeting of dockers sambistas.

    We'll meet at a specific location near Pedra do Sal to have a moment of community and I'll take you to the heart of samba in Rio de Janeiro. Get ready to explore some live samba music, get tips about street food and drinks, and meet genuine local people. You will get to know about the history of this place and why the whole samba culture is so important for us Cariocas.
