Overview

  • Alicante’s original cooking workshop was created in 2022 by local hospitality professionals who wanted to share the food and traditions they grew up with.

Here, authentic paella starts long before the rice hits the pan. You’ll visit Alicante’s Central Market with your local host, meet the vendors and shop for fresh ingredients before heading to our kitchen inside a real local restaurant.

Then get hands-on with a professional local chef: prepare traditional tapas, make your own sangria and cook authentic Alicante paella from scratch, including the traditional sofrito. Choose between seafood, meat or vegetarian paella.

This is more than following a recipe. You’ll discover the ingredients, techniques and traditions behind Alicante’s cuisine, share everything you’ve prepared around the table, and take the recipes home with you.

Real market, real restaurant, local professionals — an Alicante cooking experience created by locals.

Activity itinerary

Discover Alicante through its food, traditions, and local way of life. Start at Alicante’s Central Market with your local host. Explore the colourful stalls, meet vendors, learn about Mediterranean ingredients, and shop for fresh products for your cooking class. Then, head to our kitchen inside a real local restaurant. Guided by a professional local chef and host, you’ll prepare authentic Alicante paella from scratch, including the traditional sofrito, while learning the techniques behind one of Spain’s most iconic dishes. But paella is only part of the experience. Prepare traditional tapas and make your own homemade sangria. Wine, beer and soft drinks are also available. Choose your paella — seafood, meat, or vegetarian. Finally, sit down together and enjoy everything you’ve prepared in a relaxed local atmosphere. Share your paella, tapas and drinks with fellow travellers, and take the recipes home to recreate your favourite dishes. Created by Alicante’s original cooking workshop and hosted by local hospitality professionals, this is more than a cooking class — it’s a delicious way to experience Alicante through its market, food and people.
