The main goal of this full-day experience is to have an introduction to ice climbing, learn how to use crampons and ice axes, practice basic top-rope ice climbing techniques, and learn about snow and ice placements.
Duration: 8-10 hours
Location: Osorno Volcano, Lake District, Chile (Serac sector, 2,000 metres above sea level)
Included: Local ACGM-certified climbing guide, technical equipment (ropes, ice screws, ice axes, hardware, crampons).
Transport from Puerto Varas or Puerto Montt, to be coordinated with the participants.
Accident Insurance.
Requirements:
Basic experience in sport climbing and good physical fitness for a moderate 3-hour mountain hike to the work site.
Guests must have:
Helmet (we can rent one to you)
Harness (we can rent one to you)
Crampon-compatible mountain shoes (mid-mountain or high-mountain)
Mountain shoes (semi-rigid or rigid high-top)
Headlamp torch
30-liter rucksack
UV protection sunglasses
Sun cream
2-liter water bottle or thermos
Trekking poles
Snow gloves (2 pairs)
Gaiters
Randonnée harness (optional if participants have experience and the necessary equipment to reach the climbing area)
