Quirinus, Hermann of Hesse or Cardinal Frings – people are usually familiar with the men of Neuss. As is so often the case in historical narratives, women are more of a side note. Yet it is precisely here that women have played a key role in shaping the city's history, laying the foundations for economic success in the Middle Ages, modern nursing in the 19th century and political innovations in the post-war period.

We start our walking tour at the town hall, where no fewer than three women are the focus of attention. Next, we continue to Münsterplatz, where witches and saints alike have left their mark.

We continue along Klarissenstraße to the Blut- and Mühlenturm. Here, the focus is on the women of the Middle Ages. Our final stop is the imposing Obertor, where we once again build a bridge to the present with the Clemens Sels Museum.

On our walk back to the market along the cultural mile, there will still be time for questions and discussion.
