Guided tour inside the Nebrodi Park:
From the small town of Cesarò, we will reach Portella Femmina Morta and continuing to Portella Calacudera we will cross the beech forest of Monte Soro, the highest peak of the Nebrodi. During the walk it is possible to admire the beautiful Acerone, one of the largest specimens of mountain maple in Italy.
Descending southward, from Portella Calacudera we will reach Lake Maulazzo, a natural reservoir surrounded by thick vegetation, and a few kilometres away we will be able to admire Lake Biviere, a natural lake of considerable naturalistic value and from which there are suggestive and uncontaminated views.
Lunch with typical dishes at a restaurant in the historic centre of Cesarò: pecorino cheese, provola, ricotta, cured meats, field vegetables, fresh pasta with porcini mushrooms and Nebrodi black pork sauce, barbecue with fresh local meats, homemade dessert with almonds and Bronte pistachios, cinnamon, prickly pear and bay leaf liqueurs.
Visit to the historic centre of Cesarò: Chiesa Maria SS. Assunta, Palazzo Zito (Nebrodi Park museum), ruins of Colonna Castle with adjoining Church of the Rosary, Christ Lord of the Mountain, a bronze statue located on Mount Pizzipiturro, from which you can admire the valley below and Mount Etna Volcano.
