First Stop: Detian Transnational Waterfall | Borderland Grand Natural Scenery
Best Seasons to Visit Detian Waterfall (June – November, Most Spectacular)
Full powerful cascades, Detian merges with Vietnam’s Ban Gioc Waterfall. Rainbows often appear in the afternoon. Golden waterfall view possible after heavy rains. Peak flow: June–September.
Head straight to Detian Transnational Waterfall, the core 5A-level scenic spot and the largest transnational waterfall in Asia. Nestled on the upper reaches of the Guichun River on the China-Vietnam borderline, this stunning natural landscape is seamlessly connected with Vietnam’s Ban Yao Waterfall. Surrounded by layered karst peak clusters on both river banks, the whole scenic area features magnificent cascading waterfalls and lingering mist all year round, presenting the most iconic and grand border natural scenery in Guangxi.
Do not miss the classic immersive experience here. Embark on a special sightseeing bamboo raft and glide steadily on the calm river surface, heading straight for the grand waterfall. Feel the cool and refreshing water mist gently brushing your face, breathe in the fresh negative-ion-rich mountain air, and fully relax your body and mind. You can easily take all-angle photos of the twin waterfalls overlapping in one frame, recording exclusive high-definition border travel moments.
Second Stop: Mingshi Rural | Ink-Wash Rural Landscape & Original Zhuang Style Customs
Leave the grand border waterfalls behind and travel to Mingshi Pastoral Garden, honoured as the elegant “Little Guilin of Borderland”. Away from the noisy urban crowds and bustling traffic, this original ecological secret scenic spot is covered with graceful green karst peaks, winding clear green water streams, and vast lush original rice fields criss-crossing the land. It is not only a natural oxygen bar with fresh air all year round, but also a classic outdoor shooting base for many well-known domestic and foreign films and TV dramas. The scenery here is gentle, quiet and healing, with mountain shadows reflecting clearly on the water surface just like a Chinese traditional ink-wash painting. It is suitable for tourists of all ages to take a slow walk, relax and enjoy the pure rural holiday atmosphere.
The highlight experience here is the one-hour leisure bamboo raft drifting. Sit on a stable and safe bamboo raft, drift slowly along the clear waterway, and shuttle through the picturesque peak forest river scenery. The green mountain peaks on both sides are reflected on the calm water waves, rippling gently with the drifting raft. Every random shot is a natural ink-wash style landscape photo, allowing you to fully immerse in the slow-paced poetic pastoral river tour and stay away from all worldly trivial troubles.
