What you can expect

  • Discover Salamanca with an official tour guide on a guided visit designed to show you the highlights of the historic centre and help you understand the city from its origins to its current cultural significance. Starting in the iconic Plaza del Poeta Iglesias, next to the statue of Churriguera, you'll begin a stroll through the heart of Salamanca with insights into its urban development and its great historical figures.

For about 1.5 hours, you will stroll through some of the city's most iconic spots. You'll pass through the incomparable Plaza Mayor, the social and architectural epicentre, continue on to the unique Casa de las Conchas (Shell House), with its façade full of symbols and coats of arms, and marvel at the imposing building of La Clerecía, a Baroque icon that today hosts the Pontifical University.

The route continues with an immersion in the history of the University of Salamanca, one of the oldest in Europe, where you'll learn about its façades, courtyards, and the university tradition that has shaped the life of the city for centuries.

The tour also includes a look at the two cathedrals — the Old and the New — jewels of Gothic and Renaissance architecture that dominate the cityscape and boast centuries of history within their walls.

The tour ends at an iconic landmark, the New Cathedral, allowing you to continue exploring on your own or to soak up the magnificence of its historic surroundings after an overview of Salamanca.
