Visit the Millesgården Museum and explore the exhibition “The Elephant in the Room” by the internationally acclaimed Danish artist Tal R. Discover a blend of playfulness and gravity as you explore sculptures and paintings that raise questions about what we see and what we choose to ignore.
Encounter bronze sculptures, drawings, and paintings, including many new works. The themes revolve around the home, its rooms, and the relationships shaped within them. Yet something feels slightly off: a shift in the light, a shadow in the corner—the familiar begins to slip into something strange.
Inspired by the psychoanalytic concept das Unheimliche, Tal R explores what we actually see and what we prefer not to see. Pause, look closely, and reflect on what cannot be ignored. The exhibition extends into the park, where a selection of sculptures will be presented outdoors adjacent to the Art Gallery.
Continue to the artist’s home at Millesgården. In the Large Studio, which is filled with Carl Milles’ historic plaster sculptures, encounter an enigmatic presence—a monumental pink form standing in the middle of the room. It emerges in unmistakable clarity, impossible to avoid: the elephant in the room.
In this exhibition, Tal R also shares the creative energy of his studio. Sculptures are displayed on original plinths from his own workspace, evoking the process behind the works and inviting you into the artist’s creative environment. Much like Carl Milles’ playful sculptures spark a sense of discovery, Tal R’s works create a setting where you can pause, reflect, and engage in conversation.
