What you can expect
Live an authentic experience in Naxos on a guided cultural and culinary tour in the charming village of Melanes. Explore ancient landmarks, stroll through lush gardens and stone-paved alleys, breathe in the scents of the land, and taste the island’s finest local delicacies.
Your experience begins with a comfortable hotel pickup in Naxos. Meet your local guide and head to the heart of the island, the traditional village of Melanes.
Walk through history as you visit the Jesuit Monastery in the serene Kalamitsia area, then marvel at the ancient marble quarry — source of the island’s world-renowned stone, used in iconic temples and sculptures.
Continue to the Ancient Aqueduct and uncover the ingenuity of Greek engineering and Naxos’s unique water management systems. Then, admire the majestic Kouros of Flerio, an unfinished yet breathtaking statue lying peacefully among the trees.
Next, dive into the flavours of Naxos at a local Dairy, the largest livestock farm in the Aegean. You’ll have the chance to see the cheese production up close at a local dairy farm
Take a scenic walk through the village’s traditional gardens. Depending on the season, you’ll even have the chance to join in harvesting vegetables from the fertile Naxian land.
Stroll through Melanes’s picturesque alleyways, full of timeless charm. Stop at one of the oldest houses in the village, rest on the traditional “boutì” (veranda), and enjoy a sweet local treat.
End your tour at Melanes Café with a relaxed, delicious meal featuring warm and cold dishes, authentic Naxian cheeses, and fresh ingredients paired with carefully selected local wines and ice-cold beers.
*To offer you the ultimate Naxos experience, we have added special stops that make this tour even more unique. You will have the opportunity to visit an authentic pottery workshop in the village of Damalas and discover traditional textiles woven on a loom, just as local women made them many years ago.
In Halki, you will enjoy a Kitron tasting at the historic Vallindras distillery, where Naxos’ famous local liqueur has been produced for generations. You will also visit the church of Panagia Drosiani, one of the oldest surviving Byzantine churches on the island, dating back to the early Christian period and known for its rare frescoes.
After visiting the monastery area, we will descend to Kourounochori and guide you through our family fields, where you will see the historic marble table of King Otto, the first King of Greece, who visited Naxos in 1833 during his journey through the Cyclades.
This is the ideal experience for anyone who wants to feel the warmth of true Greek hospitality, while immersing themselves in the rich history, tastes, and nature of Naxos.
