What you can expect

Trained as an architect and passionate about the city and its development, I have lived here for several years and would like to offer you a different perspective on the city of Marseille.
Over the course of a few hours, using the writings of researchers, sociologists, historians, and novelists, as well as postcards photographed at different times, we will draw connections between text and image to jointly observe the evolution of the Phocaean city. As we make our way through the city, each stop will allow us to read a text and analyse a photograph that I have selected.

Belvedere is derived from the Italian phrase bello da vedere, which literally means “beautiful to see.” This word has come to refer to a promontory that offers us a vantage point from which to admire a view. I invite you to discover Marseille through various Belvédères. I also invite you to look for the various clues that help us understand the city’s evolution through its topography, the details of its architecture, and the landscapes that surround us.
