The Mardi Himal trek starts from Pokhara, a well-known gateway for Annapurna treks. The journey takes you through lush forests and hillside villages, gradually ascending to higher altitudes where stunning mountain views unfold.
A highlight of the trek is reaching Viewpoint 4200 metre, offering breathtaking views of the Annapurna range, including Machhapuchhre and Mardi Himal. Despite the elevation, it's a moderate trek suitable for all levels, including beginners seeking adventure.
Along the way, you'll encounter the warm hospitality of the Gurung and Magar communities, and trek through diverse landscapes with opportunities to spot wildlife like birds, butterflies, and even Himalayan thar.
Day 1: Pokhara to Forest Camp (2,600 m / 8,530 ft)
Begin your day at 8:00 am as you leave Pokhara and journey to Kande, a 1.5-hour drive through scenic landscapes. Marvel at lush fields, dense forests, the serene Seti River, and majestic mountains. A midday stop at a charming tea house adds to the experience. Trek for 5 hours from Kande to Forest Camp, passing through enchanting forests.
Day 2: Forest Camp to High Camp (3,550 m / 11,646 ft)
Wake up to a delightful breakfast and embark on a 5-hour trek from Forest Camp to the captivating Mardi Himal High Camp at 4000 metres. Enjoy the dense jungle and its wildlife, making each step an adventure. Spend a peaceful night surrounded by breathtaking scenery.
Day 3: High Camp to Rest Camp
Wake up at 4:00 am for an early morning hike of about 1.5 to 2 hours from High Camp (3,550 m / 11,646 ft) to the sunrise viewpoint (≈4,300 m / 14,108 ft). From here, enjoy a breathtaking sunrise over Mt. Fishtail (Machapuchare), the Annapurna range, and Mardi Himal.
Optional: For those feeling adventurous, and if weather permits, you can continue to Mardi Himal Base Camp (≈4,500 m / 14,764 ft). During winter months (January, February, March), heavy snow can make this section challenging, so crampons and caution are advised.
After breakfast, begin your trek down to Low Camp for overnight stay. On the descent, the majestic Machhapuchhre and the Annapurna range will continue to accompany us, offering the same breathtaking views we enjoyed on the ascent
Day 4: Rest Camp to Lumre and drive back to Pokhara
Descend from Low Camp to Siding Village, a scenic downhill walk taking approximately 4–5 hours. From Siding, continue on a short 1-hour trek to Lumre. Finally, drive for about an hour back to Pokhara, marking the end of your trek.
