Begin your adventure with a pickup from Malang in the early morning. Travel in an air-conditioned car or minibus, depending on your package (private/shared). Enjoy a scenic 2-hour drive through mountain villages and sugar, rice, cocoa, and clove plantations before reaching the Tumpak Sewu parking area.
Upon arrival, head to the viewpoint, just a 10-minute walk from the parking area. Take in the breathtaking view of the 120-meter-high curtain-shaped waterfall, set against the iconic backdrop of Mount Semeru.
Follow your experienced local guide down a steep path using bamboo stairs, guide ropes, and slippery stone paths for 40 minutes to 1 hour. At the bottom of the valley, find yourself under the spray of multiple water streams forming a natural pool, perfect for splashing around and taking photos.
After exploring the base area, your guide will offer an optional route to Goa Tetes (Drops Cave), a 30-minute walk. Named for the water droplets from the stalactites above, this cave offers a magical landscape distinct from the main waterfall.
Your guide will not only assist with the trekking path but also take photos and videos. Some tour packages even provide a short video of your journey at the end of the tour, as if you hired a professional videographer.
