What you can expect
DAY 1: CONNECT WITH THE NATURAL JUNGLE AND RELAX –
Travellers will be picked up at the airport or bus station and taken to the lodge. We will drive 2 hours through the city of Puerto Maldonado to see a variety of plantations such as yucca, banana, and pineapple. Once we arrive at Hacienda Lodge, lunch will be ready for you to enjoy. – After lunch, we will begin our exploration. We will walk through the forest to see giant trees.
Night Walk We will take a night walk, to see a variety of animals, from tarantulas, snakes, and insects.
DAY 2: PARADISE OF MACAWS AND PARROTS At 4:30 am, travellers will depart by boat to explore the Tambopata River. The trip will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. During this time we will be able to observe wildlife such as jaguars, tapirs, and capybaras. From here we will reach the largest clay lick in the world: Collpa Chuncho. Here we will observe 3 species of colourful macaws and 3 species of parrots with parakeets that live in groups of 80 to 100. – Once travellers have been able to observe and photograph the wildlife at the clay lick, we will return to the lodge by boat. Here we will have time to pack our things and have lunch. After lunch, we will head to Puerto Maldonado by car. From here, we will navigate the Madre de Dios River before arriving at our second lodge: -Afterwards we will continue the boat trip to the monkey house, travellers will have the opportunity to feed and observe 3 species of monkeys.
DAY 3: TAMBOPATA NATIONAL RESERVE LAKE SANDOVAL After breakfast at the lodge, we will collect our things and head by boat to the Tambopata National Reserve (Lake Sandoval). Here, we will have the opportunity to observe animals such as: giant otters, 4 species of monkeys, butterflies and a variety of colourful birds native to Peru.
-Accommodation: travellers will have the privilege of sleeping inside the National Reserve at Sandoval Lodge: a lodge belonging to a local family. This lodge is simple, comfortable and a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature.
-For lunch, we will eat a typical jungle dish “JUANE” at the Sandoval Lodge.
-After lunch, travellers will have a few minutes to rest, then we will explore the other part of the reserve, back to the lodge.
Those overnight travellers will participate in our last activity. Travellers will have the opportunity to travel along the Madre de Dios River, looking for alligators along Sandoval Lake
DAY 4: SUNRISE IN THE AMAZON – PUERTO MALDONADO Sunrise in the Amazon and departure to Puerto Maldonado. This morning you will be able to enjoy the sunrise and capture the stunning views of the Madre de Dios River. You will enjoy a final nutritious breakfast with organic ingredients from our pantry before you leave. Your guide and the staff in charge will say goodbye to you and thank you for visiting this part of the Amazon. You will travel by canoe with an outboard motor back to Puerto Maldonado.
