What you can expect

Our experience begins at the Museum of Art of Rio (MAR), where we’ll dive into the history and transformation of the city’s port area using a detailed scale model. Next, we’ll walk to the Brazilian Stairway, a colourful art intervention that became a symbol of urban renewal.

We’ll then visit a public artwork celebrating Rio’s Carnival, Brazil’s most iconic cultural expression. At Largo de São Francisco da Prainha, surrounded by vibrant murals and street life, we’ll uncover the inspiring stories of Black Brazilian figures who helped shape the city’s identity.

Our next stop is Pedra do Sal, the birthplace of samba and a powerful symbol of Black resistance — a place where rhythm, faith, and freedom meet. From there, we head to the Valongo Wharf, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that invites reflection on the legacy of over a million Africans who arrived through this port.

The tour concludes at the breathtaking Ethnicities Mural, created by Brazilian artist Eduardo Kobra for the Rio 2016 Olympics — a tribute to unity, diversity, and the beauty of humanity.
