What you can expect

  • Discover Ladakh’s high-altitude landscapes on a 3-day journey from Leh through the Indus Valley to the turquoise waters of Tsomoriri and Tsokar Lakes. Visit historic monasteries, experience traditional village life in Shara, explore geothermal springs in Puga Valley, and travel across the dramatic Taglang La Pass before returning to Leh.

Day 1: Leh → Indus Valley → Shara Village
Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Leh along the ancient Indus River. The first stop is Shey Palace, once the ceremonial residence of Ladakhi kings, known for its giant copper-gilt Buddha statue. Continue to the stunning hilltop Thiksey Monastery, famous for its multi-level architecture, panoramic valley views, and the 15-meter statue of Maitreya Buddha.
Next, visit Hemis Monastery, the largest and wealthiest monastery in Ladakh, renowned for its rich Buddhist history, sacred relics, and peaceful ambience.
After completing the Indus Valley monastery circuit, continue driving through picturesque farmland and mountain landscapes until you reach Shara Village. This quiet traditional settlement offers an authentic Ladakhi cultural experience. Enjoy a relaxing evening and overnight stay in Shara.

Day 2: Shara Village → Mahe Bridge → Tsomoriri Lake (Korzok)
After breakfast, continue deeper into the high-altitude region of Changthang. Drive along the Indus River towards Mahe Bridge, where you enter a dramatically changing landscape of rugged hills and sweeping plains.
As the altitude rises, the views open into vast wetlands and grasslands, home to migratory birds and wildlife. By afternoon, arrive at Tsomoriri Lake (4,522 m) — one of the most beautiful high-altitude lakes in Ladakh. Its deep blue waters are surrounded by snowy peaks and the wide-open Changthang plateau.
Visit Korzok Village, among the highest inhabited settlements in India, and explore the ancient Korzok Monastery overlooking the lake. Spend the evening enjoying the peaceful lakeside atmosphere and changing colours at sunset. Overnight stay at Tsomoriri.

Day 3: Tsomoriri Lake → Puga Valley → Tsokar Lake → Taglang La → Leh
Wake up to a serene morning by the lakeshore and begin your return journey to Leh. The first stop is Puga Valley, known for its geothermal hot springs, steaming vents, and colourful mineral deposits.
Continue driving towards the Polo-Kongka Pass, an area dotted with Changpa nomadic Rebo tents, where you can witness the unique lifestyle of Ladakh’s traditional Pashmina-herding community.
Shortly after, reach the striking Tsokar Lake, famous for its salt flats, wildlife, and stunning mountain backdrop. Take a short photo break, and if time permits, visit the small monastery in Thukje Village nearby.
Rejoin the Manali–Leh Highway and ascend the dramatic Taglang La (5,328 m), one of the world’s highest motorable passes. Enjoy sweeping views of the Himalayas during the descent towards the Indus Valley.
Arrive back in Leh by evening and check into your hotel.
