Get ready for a unique and unforgettable experience in the heart of the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park! Our tour begins at 2:00 PM, departing from Barreirinhas in a sturdy Toyota 4x4 — the perfect vehicle to navigate the sandy trails of the region. We’ll travel for about 50 minutes along a scenic and adventurous off-road path until we reach the base of a large dune that gives access to the park.
Once there, we leave the vehicle behind and begin a short hike up a wooden staircase that takes us to the top of the dune. As soon as we reach the summit, we’re rewarded with one of Brazil’s most breathtaking landscapes: a vast sea of white sand dunes dotted with crystal-clear freshwater lagoons, naturally formed by rain and shaped by the wind.
Our itinerary includes visits to some of the most beautiful and iconic lagoons in the area. We begin at Lagoa Bonita, true to its name, with clear waters surrounded by ever-changing dunes. Next, we visit Lagoa do Clone, famously featured in TV shows and films thanks to its picture-perfect scenery. We continue to Lagoa do Massarico, known for its rustic charm and peaceful environment, and finally Lagoa do Descanso, ideal for a relaxing swim and a moment of tranquility in nature.
Throughout the tour, there’s plenty of time to swim, take incredible photos, and simply absorb the silence and grandeur of the landscape. At every turn, the scenery transforms, revealing new shapes and colours that make this tour a true natural spectacle.
The highlight of the experience happens at the end of the afternoon, when we settle in to witness the sunset over the dunes — a mesmerising play of colours reflecting on the water, painting the sky in golden, pink, and orange tones. It’s a magical moment that will stay with you forever.
Around 7:00 PM, we return to Barreirinhas with full hearts and our spirits lifted by the stunning beauty of the Lençóis Maranhenses.
