During the cherry blossom season (March to the end of April), all tea ceremony experiences are personally hosted by Manabu Ito.
I come from a family that served as official gardeners to the Tokugawa Shogunate, with a long tradition connected to the cultivation of Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms. For generations, we have also practised traditional arts such as tea ceremony and calligraphy.
In this special seasonal experience, you will enjoy an authentic tea ceremony using utensils passed down from my ancestors, while experiencing the beauty and spirit of Japanese culture during sakura season.
This is a limited-time opportunity to experience tea ceremony directly guided by a practitioner with deep historical roots.
We look forward to welcoming you in Kyoto.
Discover the history and cultural significance of the Japanese tea ceremony with a private experience in Kyoto. Learn about the tea utensils, their uses, and care tips. Practice proper tea etiquette and serving techniques.
Enjoy a demonstration of the ceremony's elegant movements and seasonal hospitality. Prepare matcha yourself to experience the essence of the practice. Participate in a Q&A session to deepen your understanding.
This experience is especially recommended for those who have a genuine interest in Japanese culture, aesthetics, and traditional arts, can appreciate the authentic taste of real matcha, and value the delicate flavours of handcrafted wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets) from a long-established shop.
