What you can expect

Begin your journey at the Colchis Fountain, located in the heart of Kutaisi. From here, travel to Gelati Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the greatest achievements of Georgia’s Golden Age. Founded in the 12th century by King David IV of Georgia, it once served as a major centre of education and culture. Admire its beautifully preserved mosaics, explore the historic academy, and visit the royal burial site.

Continue to Motsameta Monastery, dramatically set on a cliff surrounded by the Tskhaltsitela River. This peaceful monastery is dedicated to the martyred princes David and Constantine and offers breathtaking views over the canyon.

On the way back to the city, stop at Khareba Church, a unique church carved into a limestone cliff, known for its quiet and spiritual atmosphere. Then explore the Mtsvanekvavila Complex (Green Flower district), one of Kutaisi’s oldest areas, where you can enjoy panoramic views over the Rioni River and discover remnants of the city’s medieval past.

Finish your experience at Bagrati Cathedral, an 11th-century landmark symbolising Georgia’s unity and strength. Located on Ukimerioni Hill, it offers stunning views over Kutaisi and the surrounding landscape. End the tour with a tasting of traditional Georgian sweets at Skhveni (Organic food and Wine Store)

NOTE: Gelati monastery is temporary closed due to the renovation. it's only possible to enter on Saturdays and Sundays, and on holidays. On weekdays, the main gate is locked and you cannot enter the complex at all.
