What you can expect

“Hello, hello! This is Königs Wusterhausen on wavelength 2700.”

With these words, a new era began on December 22, 1920: The first German radio broadcast was transmitted from the Funkerberg in Königs Wusterhausen. A military radio station developed into a place that changed the media landscape in Germany.

On this guided tour, which lasts about an hour, you will embark on an exciting journey through time through the history of broadcasting. Together, we will explore the Funkerberg grounds with its historic buildings, former broadcasting locations, and technical facilities. You'll learn how simple signals became speech and music, why radio was initially an experiment, and how radio developed into a mass medium within a few years.

The tour tells not only about technology and innovation, but also about people: about engineers, radio pioneers, and the first listeners who received voices and music from afar for the first time.

You can look forward to:

  • the history of the first German radio broadcast
  • exciting insights into the development of radio technology
  • Original locations on the historic Funkerberg
  • fascinating stories from the early days of radio
  • Historic atmosphere

The guided tour is suitable for visitors interested in history as well as for technology fans, Brandenburg explorers, and anyone who wants to get to know unusual places or simply their local area. It begins and ends at the entrance to the Funkerberg Museum and lasts about 1 hour.
This option does not include the museum entry fee.
