What you can expect

Hi, I’m Kiyoto – yes, named after the beautiful city of Kyoto itself! Unusual, right? I’m here to guide you beyond the guidebooks, on an immersive walking journey through Kyoto’s timeless streets.

I work with a small team of guides I’ve personally trained, all sharing my philosophy: genuine hospitality and creating experiences that stay with you long after the tour ends.
Walking is the most intimate way to discover Kyoto.

Every step allows you to notice details often missed – the scent of incense drifting from a hidden temple, the texture of centuries-old wooden gates, the sound of a bamboo fountain in a quiet garden, or the chatter from a family-run shop. You’ll not just see Kyoto, you’ll feel its rhythm all around you.

Safety and comfort are always a priority. Our routes are designed with gentle pacing, plenty of breaks, and opportunities to rest in tea houses or local cafés. Whether you’re travelling solo, with family, or as a couple, walking allows you to explore at a human pace, with space for conversation, discovery, and reflection.

Half-day Walking Tour

Perfect for a shorter adventure, this tour takes you through historic districts such as Higashiyama or Gion. Stroll narrow lanes lined with wooden machiya houses, visit a couple of iconic temples or shrines, and pause for matcha or a sweet treat in a traditional café. In just a few hours, you’ll experience the essence of old Kyoto.

Full-day Walking Tour

For those who wish to dive deeper, spend a full day wandering Kyoto’s living history. Combine famous landmarks like Kiyomizu-dera or Nanzen-ji with hidden gardens, artisan workshops, and bustling markets. Along the way, you’ll have time for authentic meals in family-run eateries and quiet moments in tucked-away temples. A full-day walk lets you truly immerse yourself in Kyoto’s culture and spirit.

Whether you choose a half-day or full-day journey, walking brings you closer to Kyoto’s heartbeat – its people, its traditions, and its hidden beauty.

This isn’t just sightseeing – it’s a chance to see, hear, taste, and breathe Kyoto at a pace that lets every detail come alive. Let’s create an unforgettable walking adventure together!
