What you can expect

  • Follow the morning footsteps of an Estonian engineer on a guided walking tour from the wooden houses of Kalamaja to the beating heart of Tallinn’s industrial past—the Volta factories.

Start at the Baltic Railway Station and move through the streets of Kalamaja, where workers lived in neatly built wooden homes. Follow the quiet stretch of Tööstuse and Vabriku Streets, where industry once dominated the landscape.

Along the way, pause at Cemetery Park, a resting place for generations who shaped this city with their hands and labour. Finally, arrive at Volta, where machines once roared and workers clocked in to build Estonia’s industrial future.

This is not just a walk—it’s a step into the everyday life of Tallinn’s working past, where homes, streets, and factories were all part of a daily rhythm.
