A Wyoming Winter Classic
Grand Teton in winter is one of the most productive wildlife viewing environments in North America. This private safari pairs expert wildlife tracking with a horse-drawn sleigh ride into the heart of the National Elk Refuge, where thousands of elk winter within easy viewing distance.
What to Expect
Your naturalist guide will pick you up directly from your Jackson Hole lodging in a heated expedition vehicle. Search for bald eagles, bison, moose, coyote, elk, and mule deer as your guide reads the day's conditions and adapts the route to where wildlife is active.
Midway through your day, transition to a horse-drawn sleigh for a ride directly into a wintering elk herd on the National Elk Refuge, surrounded by views of the snow-capped Teton Range.
What You Might See
Elk gather by the thousands on the National Elk Refuge in winter, often visible from the sleigh itself. Depending on the day, you may also see bison, moose, coyotes, bald eagles, and mule deer. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed — that's what makes them extraordinary.
