After getting ready at the dive centre and an introductory briefing, we'll board a 7.5-meter inflatable boat for a cruise of about 15 minutes along the coast.
We will head along the coast towards the Green Grotto and the Wizard's Grotto, where we will begin our activity. The caves are famous for their natural environments and their play of light, the reflections on the water, and the seabeds teeming with life. Together, we will be able to observe fish, seaweed and the unique features that distinguish the cave's underwater environment.
In the event of bad weather conditions on that side of the island, we will head to the Cave of Love, which is very similar in beauty to the Cave of the Magician and is so named because of its distinctive shape.
We will then continue to the Cartaromana area, near the Aragonese Castle, where we will be able to see the remains of an underwater archaeological site. In fact, in the Carta Romana area, there are submerged sections of walls and an ancient room carved into the rock called the Nymphaeum.
In the waters surrounding the castle, within just a few centimetres, we can observe the natural phenomenon of CO₂ gas emissions: small bubbles that rise to the surface through the ground and are linked to Ischia's volcanic origin, but which are also extremely important for the study of ocean acidification.
At the end of the tour, we'll return to the dive centre, where a shower is available.
