Right at the start of this enchanting hike, you can expect unique views of the picturesque village of St'Angelo in the south and, after a short climb, of Forio in the west of the island. We then hike along the ridgeway through a sea of rocks and a small robinia forest until we reach a chestnut forest. Here on this quiet, densely wooded plateau, we discover huge moss-covered boulders, quaint rock houses and deep snow pits from centuries past. Many of the large and small boulders have been shaped by nature into bizarre figures, creating an enchanted stone forest. For our well-earned lunch break, we stop off at a rustic mountain restaurant near Santa Maria al Monte. The restaurant with its fantastic panoramic terrace was originally also a rock house! Well fortified, we finally set off on the descent to Forio, where the hike ends.

GEOLOGIST'S TIP: It's best to bring your camera! There are many fantastic photo opportunities, not just of the landscapes and special rock formations. We will also be happy to take a picture of you with a menhir on your back or a special portrait in a stone frame. Last but not least: wear well-fitting shoes, then walking is more relaxed and bring plenty of good humour and a light jacket.
