The Inverness Castle Experience (Pass by)

Standing by the railings and enjoying the view is the ideal way to start our walking tour of Inverness. We will not be entering the castle. You may choose to enter in your own time.

Falcon Square

  • 5m
It's named for John Falconer who was the founder of the Falcon Iron Foundry in 1858

Old High St Stephen's Church

  • 5m
You can still see the mark made by musket balls in the wall of the tower, by the door.

Greig Street Bridge

  • 5m
This is one of two "bouncy bridges" that we'll encounter on our walk.

Inverness Cathedral

  • 5m
Inverness Cathedral, or the Cathedral Church of St Andrew was built, in Gothic style, between 1866 and 1869 by the Inverness architect, Alexander Ross. Admission is free but donations are welcomed if you want to enter. The tour passes by the church without going inside. If you wish to visit the interior, an entry charge applies. This is entirely optional and not required to complete the tour.

Infirmary Bridge

  • 5m
World famous Loch Ness is less than 9km upstream. Here's a scoop for you though … the first time Nessie, the monster, was seen – in 565 – it wasn't in the lake, it was in this river.
