In the Shadow of the Mountain (2-hour tour) takes you through the Plateau area and traces the roots of Montreal’s Jewish community through early 20th century Yiddish and then English literature. By way of poetry and novels, this tour explores how Jews envisioned their life in Montreal and contrasts these utopic visions to the realities of life in the city. You’ll also discover the ways in which Montreal's Jewish community made the Plateau their home at the foot of the mountain, and made a lasting impression on its landscape.
