What you can expect

Our starting point will be the Candes-Saint-Martin cemetery.
I will start by explaining the very first historical traces from more than 2,000 years ago, in Antiquity.
Then I will tell you the storey of Martin in the 4th century AD, an important figure who gave the town its name.
I will move forward in time, explaining the town's fortifications from the 12th century onwards.
I will end with the 19th century, with the harbour of Candes Saint Martin, its trade strongly linked to the extraction of Tuffeau stone, the same stone that was used to build the entire Loire Valley region.
All this while passing through picturesque streets, important historical sites, and, of course, the Collegiate Church.
Our route will form a loop, lasting about 1 hour and 30 minutes and covering 1.1 km, and we will return to the Candes-Saint-Martin cemetery.
