Ideal for curious travellers who don't want to just take photos, but rather feel Guanajuato, discover its stories, and understand what makes this city so special.
Discover Guanajuato beyond its façades on a 3-hour walking tour of its history, architecture, legends, and local life.
This sightseeing tour is designed for those who want to see the must-visit spots in Guanajuato, but also to understand the stories, people, and events that shaped the city.
We'll start by strolling through the heart of the Historic Centre, between the Jardín de la Unión and the Teatro Juárez, to discover the European influence that transformed Guanajuato's image during a time of great prosperity.
We'll then continue to the Plaza de la Paz and the Basilica of Our Lady of Guanajuato, the iconic steps of the University, and then head down to one of the city's most unique spaces: its Underground Street and its tunnel system, where we'll learn how geography, floods, and urban development shaped the Guanajuato we see today.
Winding through streets and alleyways, we'll reach the famous Callejón del Beso to hear, at the very spot where it took place, one of Mexico's most famous love legends.
We'll then head to the traditional squares of San Fernando and San Roque, discovering spots brimming with local life before delving into one of the most important episodes in Mexican history in front of the Alhóndiga de Granaditas, a key site at the start of the War of Independence.
We'll also visit the Hidalgo Market, where we'll discover another side of the city through its products, flavours, and everyday life.
Finally, we'll walk to the Diego Rivera House Museum, the birthplace of one of the great exponents of Mexican muralism, where we'll end our tour.
During these three hours, we'll connect mining, architecture, religion, legends, independence, art, and daily life to understand how different historical periods left their mark on Guanajuato.
More than just visiting landmarks, the idea is that by the end of the tour, you'll be able to see the city with fresh eyes and understand the stories behind its streets.
Before we say goodbye, I'll share with you my personal recommendations for continuing your exploration: places to eat and drink, museums, terraces, and some spots worth discovering on your own.
