Step into the world's largest museum dedicated to a single civilisation, set beside the Giza Pyramids. Your visit begins at the Hanging Obelisk of Ramses II at the entrance. Inside the Grand Hall, you'll stand beneath the colossal 3,200-year-old statue of Ramses II, 11 metres tall and weighing 83 tonnes. Climb the Grand Staircase, lined with more than 60 statues of pharaohs, gods, and royals. At the top, panoramic windows frame the Pyramids. Then follow Egypt's storey through galleries that move from prehistory to the Roman era. The highlight is the Tutankhamun galleries, where the boy king's complete treasure collection is displayed together for the first time. It includes more than 5,000 objects: the golden funerary mask, gilded chariots, his throne, jewellery, and coffins. You can also visit the museum built for Khufu's Solar Boat, a 4,500-year-old vessel buried beside the Great Pyramid.
