Railway ticket on the AK Railway to & from Spencer Glacier and Grandview Originating from Girdwood

Maximum weight for kayaks is 240 lbs.
Maximum height is 6 ft. 3 inches.

Know before you book

Minimum Age of 8 for Children. All children will participate in tandem kayaks with most experienced paddler in the group or guardian.

What you can expect

Paddle around magnificent icebergs and up close to the Spencer glacier terminus face by kayak. Hike onto the gravel moraine and get up close views of Spencer Glacier. Enjoy both southbound Alaska Railway Trains: The Coastal Classic & the Glacier Discovery Train, travelling thru the most scenic Grandview & Tunnels sections of the AK Railway.

This full day adventure will get you into the heart of the glaciated Kenai Mountains and the Chugach National Forest along the historic AK Railway.

Tour Itinerary:
7:30 AM - Meet at Chugach Adventures Office in Girdwood
8:05 AM – Coastal Classic Train departs Girdwood
9 AM – Arrive at Spencer Glacier Whistle Stop
9:30 AM – 1:00 PM – Kayak Tour on Spencer Lake and Glacier Moraine Trek
1:00 PM – 1:30 PM – Lunch
2:00 – 5 PM *** – Scenic Train Ride to Grandview thru the Upper Placer River Gorge Canyon–The most scenic portion of the AK Railway
5:15 PM – Arrive in Portage and take Chugach Adventures’ Van Shuttle back to Girdwood
5:45 PM –Arrival back in Girdwood
