What you can expect

We leave El Chaltén by the trail that goes to Laguna Toro. After an hour of walking uphill and crossing small streams and forests of ñires and lengas, we arrive at a wide open area with a natural postcard of the Fitz Roy, Torre and Huemul Hills.

The route continues through the Pampa de las Carretas, until we cross a leafy forest. When we leave, we start walking through a different landscape, almost high mountainous, where the aridity and the floral species will not cease to amaze us. Also in this section, marine fossil remains of ammonites and belemnites, 100 million years old, can be found very easily.

On this last stretch we can feel the Patagonian wind and it may eventually snow, even in summer, as we look out over a natural viewpoint located at an altitude of approximately 1500 metres above sea level. From here we have a different and unconventional view of the Torre and Fitz Roy massifs. After lunch with an unforgettable panoramic view we return to El Chaltén.

National Park entrance fee not included.
