What you can expect

  • Experience a different kind of historical excursion from New York and discover the evolution of the United States through two key cities: Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

More than a traditional sightseeing tour, this experience follows a timeline that begins in 1776 with the Declaration of Independence and progresses to the great civil rights movements of the 20th century.

Travel in a small group accompanied by a Spanish-speaking tour guide who will connect the events, people, and places that helped transform the country's history.

The first part of the experience takes place in Philadelphia. Take a historical walking tour of Old City and discover places related to the founding of the United States. Walk through Elfreth's Alley, see the exterior of the Betsy Ross House, and tour the historic area of Independence National Historical Park.

Continue to Independence Hall, where your tour guide will explain the historical context of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Learn about the history and symbolism of the Liberty Bell and enjoy a food tasting of a traditional Philadelphia-style pretzel.

Then continue on to Washington, DC. During the tour, discover how the new country evolved from its founding ideals to the great debates on freedom, equality, and civil rights.

In Washington, visit some of the most representative places of this historical evolution. Discover the symbolism of the Jefferson Memorial, learn the storey of Martin Luther King Jr. and the March on Washington, and continue to the Lincoln Memorial, the site of one of the most important speeches of the Civil Rights Movement.

The tour also includes the stories behind the Vietnam and Korean memorials, as well as stops to learn about the political and historical significance of the White House and the United States Capitol.

Throughout the day, you'll receive explanations in Spanish, historical context, and stories about the people and events that connect Philadelphia with Washington.

Return to New York City after having travelled through more than two centuries of history in a single experience.
