Most visitors know the Algarve for its sunny beaches and resort towns. This adventure reveals a completely different side of the Algarve: the wild West Coast, where soaring cliffs, hidden beaches, endless ocean views, and remote trails create an unforgettable edge-of-the-world feeling.

After meeting in Lagos, we’ll drive about 35 minutes into the spectacular Costa Vicentina Natural Park. This is a full-day experience, but not a full day of hiking. We’ll spend around four hours hiking (8–12 km / 5–7 miles) at a relaxed pace, with plenty of stops to enjoy the scenery, take photos, explore, and simply soak it all in. Depending on conditions, there may be a chance for a refreshing mid-hike sea swim.

I’m T.J., founder of West Coast Adventures, the Algarve’s original fully dedicated hiking guide. Since 2014, I’ve personally guided more than 7,000 guests through these landscapes. As the sun begins to sink towards the Atlantic, we’ll arrive at one of my favourite secluded clifftop viewpoints for a homemade Algarvian tapas picnic. Every meal is prepared by me using fresh local ingredients and served with local wine. It’s the perfect ending to a day of adventure, discovery, and good conversation.
