Arrive in the charming village of Matala, famous for its golden sands, crystal-clear waters, and unique cliffside caves. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at your own pace:

Relax on the beach: Swim, sunbathe, or take in the tranquil atmosphere. A set of two sunbeds with an umbrella costs around €10–€12, or you can use the free public space with your own towel or umbrella.

Beach bars & cafés: Many offer free seating if you order a drink or snack.

Shops & supermarkets: Stock up locally, no need to bring supplies from Heraklion.

Explore the famous caves: Optional visit to the historic cliffside caves, once Roman tombs and later homes to the hippie community of the 1960s and ’70s (entrance fee: €4).
