Around the Island – Two Days Tour
Discover Madeira in depth with our 2-day adventure, exploring both the West and East sides of the island. A unique experience that blends breathtaking scenery, rich history, culture, and authentic local charm.
Note: The order of the tours may vary – Day 1 West + Day 2 East or vice-versa.
West Side – Natural Pools & Picturesque Villages
Câmara de Lobos: A colourful fishing village close to Funchal, beloved by Winston Churchill for its charm and tranquil bay.
Ribeira Brava: Visit this charming coastal town with its 15th-century church and vibrant promenade.
Madalena do Mar: A peaceful stop surrounded by banana plantations, reflecting Madeira’s agricultural traditions.
Fonte do Bispo: Cross the island’s largest plateau (1300–1500 m), gateway to Laurissilva forest trails, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Pause at the scenic Fonte do Bispo viewpoint.
Porto Moniz: Famous for its volcanic natural pools—the largest on the island. Enjoy incredible coastal views, optional swim (weather permitting), lunch, and free time (1 h 30 – 2 h).
Seixal: Admire the striking “Bridal Veil” waterfall and black-sand beaches framed by cliffs.
São Vicente: Nestled in a lush valley, this picturesque village invites a short walk and a visit to its 17th-century church.
Cabo Girão: Europe’s highest sea cliff (580 m), featuring a glass-floored skywalk with spectacular views over the ocean and terraced farmlands.
East Side – Tradition, Culture & Panoramic Peaks
Cristo Rei (Garajau): A dramatic viewpoint crowned by the Christ the King statue overlooking the Atlantic.
Machico: Madeira’s first capital (15th century) and landing site of the island’s discoverers, blending history with a lively modern atmosphere.
Ponta de São Lourenço: The island’s easternmost point, a protected reserve with volcanic cliffs, arid beauty, and sweeping ocean views—a paradise for photographers.
Porto da Cruz: A quiet coastal village preserving traditional life. Visit the Engenhos do Norte rum distillery, still powered by 19th-century steam engines.
Santana: Known for its triangular thatched houses, this iconic village offers authentic culture, gardens, and mountain scenery. Lunch and free time (1 h 30 – 2 h).
Ribeiro Frio: A peaceful nature park surrounded by mountains, known for trout pools, Laurissilva forest walks, and endemic birds such as the bis-bis.
Pico do Arieiro: Standing at 1818 m, it’s Madeira’s 3rd highest peak. Experience dramatic ridges, ever-changing clouds, and breathtaking views, on clear days you can even spot Porto Santo. Nearby lies the historic “Poço da Neve,” once used to store snow and ice.
During peak seasons, the type of transport and the number of participants per group may vary according to availability and logistical requirements.
