What you can expect

Industry, history and a new beginning – discover a Berlin that few people know.

Off the beaten track, a fascinating piece of Berlin history awaits you: Oberschöneweide. Once one of the most modern industrial centers in Europe, today it is a area in transition between past and future.

On this guided tour, you will explore impressive brick factories, learn about Emil Rathenau's visions, and gain insight into the daily lives of workers around 1900. Along the River Spree, you will discover how closely industry, transport, and urban development were intertwined.

A special highlight is the Funkhaus Nalepastraße – the former centre of GDR broadcasting. Here, you will learn how media, politics, and culture were intertwined.

Today, Oberschöneweide is an exciting place of transformation: universities, artists, and start-ups are breathing new life into the old industrial facilities.

This tour combines history with contemporary issues and offers you an authentic glimpse of a side of Berlin that is often overlooked.

We begin our journey through time at Wilhelminenhofstraße 75 A (right at the entrance of HTW Berlin), then continue past the AEG site and along the banks of the Spree, ending at the Funkhaus (Nalepastraße 18). The tour lasts 2 hours in total.
