What you can expect

  • Discover the natural beauty of the Canadian Rockies on this two-day small-group tour from Calgary or Banff, with a night in the Banff area and turquoise lakes at nearly every turn.

One day follows the legendary Icefields Parkway, the scenic Highway 93 that runs through Banff and Jasper National Parks. You'll stop at Bow Lake, fed by glacier meltwater beneath the Crowfoot Glacier, and the vivid turquoise Peyto Lake, before the day's highlight: boarding a giant Ice Explorer to roll out onto the Athabasca Glacier on the Columbia Icefield, a remnant of the last ice age. You can also add an optional Banff Night Tour in summer for golden-hour peaks, mirror-like reflections, and a chance to spot wildlife.

The other day is built around the Rockies' most famous lakes. Start at Lake Louise, the “Sapphire of the Rockies,” backed by Mount Victoria, then visit sapphire-blue Moraine Lake in the Valley of the Ten Peaks. After time in Lake Louise Village, with an optional lunch, cross into Yoho National Park for the green waters of Emerald Lake and the Natural Bridge over the Kicking Horse River, before returning to Banff or Calgary.

    Itinerary:

Day 1: Calgary/Banff - Icefields Parkway - Crowfoot Glacier (pass by) - Bow Lake (20 mins) - Peyto Lake (20 mins) - Columbia Icefield Adventure (mandatory, 90 mins, Ice Explorer) - Banff

Optional: Banff Night Tour (seasonal, June 1 to September 30, minimum 3 guests)

Hotel: Elk + Avenue Hotel; Irwin's Mountain Inn; Red Carpet Inn; The Rundlestone Lodge; Banff Caribou Lodge; or similar (room type assigned on the day)

Day 2 (summer, Moraine Lake open): Banff - Banff National Park - Castle Mountain (pass by) - Lake Louise (60 mins) - Moraine Lake (mandatory, 60 mins) - Lake Louise Village (45 mins, optional lunch) - Yoho National Park - Spiral Tunnel (pass by) - Emerald Lake (20 mins) - Natural Bridge (15 mins) - Banff/Calgary

Day 2 (Moraine Lake closed): Banff - Banff National Park - Castle Mountain (pass by) - Lake Louise (60 mins) - Lake Louise Village (45 mins, optional lunch) - Yoho National Park - Spiral Tunnel (pass by) - Emerald Lake (20 mins) - Natural Bridge (15 mins) - Kootenay National Park - Marble Canyon (60 mins) - Banff/Calgary

Note: the two days may run in either order depending on departure date (Package A starts with the Columbia Icefield; Package B starts with Lake Louise). Moraine Lake is generally open June 1 to mid-October; refer to Banff National Park's actual dates.
